Satterthwaite
Description: Satterthwaite, in the Grizedale Forest,
overlooks Grizedale Beck and is surrounded by the most beautiful landscape in the Lake District.
Satterthwaite’s origins date back to Viking times, the village’s name in Norse means ‘summer farm
in a clearing’. These days the village mainly consists of a few farm dwellings and
houses.
The village’s population has remained relatively static over the past few hundred
years. Satterthwaite is a typical laid back Lakeland village and is a great destination for a
relaxed and quiet holiday in the Lake District.
Grizedale Forest provides walkers with a
number of good walks through some of the most beautiful scenery the Lake District has to offer.
