all are well within driving distance of each other, offering splendid
scenery and views of lakeland fells, mountains, lakes, rivers and
tarns. Many of which have excellent accommodation available wether
you are an avid walker/hiker or just here to see the beautiful scenerey,
for mountain bikers many of them offer safe storage for your bikes.

Portinscale
Description: Portinscale is situated on the northwestern
side of Derwentwater in the Borrowdale Valley, just off the A66. Keswick is located to the west
of the village and to the south is Thornthwaite. This picturesque Lakeland village is set amongst
some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District.
Portinscale provides visitors
with a range of facilities and services, which makes it a good starting point for a Lakeland
holiday exploring the Lake District. The vibrant Derwentwater offers visitors a variety of water
sports, as well as a number of outstanding walks exploring the landscape around the
lake.
Portinscale is also popular with fell walkers, with the close by Skiddaw Mountain
and High Seat offering a range of excellent trails.
