Near Sawrey
Description: Near Sawrey is situated on the shore of
Esthwaite Water, east of Hawkshead and west of Lake Windermere. This quiet village is famous for
the legacy of Beatrix Potter, who lived in her 17th century farmhouse, Hill Top, and created a
number of her famous and beloved characters there.
Visitors come to Near Sawrey from all
over the world every year to take a look at her life and the village she called home. A number of
excellent walks can be found near the village, offering visitors the chance to explore the beauty
of the Lake District.
