Lake District - Towns and Villages Grasmere
There's
plenty of towns and villages dotted all over the Lake District,
all are well within driving distance of each other, offering splendid
scenery and views of lakeland fells, mountains, lakes, rivers and
tarns. Many of which have excellent accommodation available wether
you are an avid walker/hiker or just here to see the beautiful scenerey,
for mountain bikers many of them offer safe storage for your bikes.

Grasmere
Description: Grasmere was once an important sheep farming
centre, with its origins dating back to Norse times. The village’s claim to fame is that it was
the home of William Wordsworth.
Grasmere Lake is located next to the village, with the
majority of its buildings dating from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The Church of St.
Oswalds, dating from the 13th century, is the village’s main attraction and it is the resting
place of William Wordsworth. Grasmere’s other attractions include the Wordsworth Museum, Dove
Cottage and Rydal Mount.
