all are well within driving distance of each other, offering splendid
scenery and views of lakeland fells, mountains, lakes, rivers and
tarns. Many of which have excellent accommodation available wether
you are an avid walker/hiker or just here to see the beautiful scenerey,
for mountain bikers many of them offer safe storage for your bikes.

Cockermouth
Description: Cockermouth is world renown as being the
Birthplace of William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian. This Georgian town has been an important
settlement in the area for hundreds of years, and was granted a market charter in
1221.
The village stands near the junction of Derwent River and Cocker River. Attractions
on offer in Cockermouth include Cockermouth Castle dating back to the 12th century; the
Cockermouth All Saint’s Church; Wordsworths house built in 1745; and the annual Cockermouth Music
Festival.
