all are well within driving distance of each other, offering splendid
scenery and views of lakeland fells, mountains, lakes, rivers and
tarns. Many of which have excellent accommodation available wether
you are an avid walker/hiker or just here to see the beautiful scenerey,
for mountain bikers many of them offer safe storage for your bikes.

Carlisle
Description: Situated in the north of Cumbria, Carlisle is the
capital city of the county. The city is very popular with visitors to the Lake District, thanks
to its welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
Carlisle’s main tourist attractions include
Carlisle Castle built in 1092 and today is home to the Kings Own Royal Border Regiment; the
Cathedral which dates back to 1133; the Victorian enclosed market; the Tullie House Museum and
Gallery, housing exhibits of Carlisle’s history; the Old Town Hall; the Guild Hall Museum; and
Hadrians Wall.
