all are well within driving distance of each other, offering splendid
scenery and views of lakeland fells, mountains, lakes, rivers and
tarns. Many of which have excellent accommodation available wether
you are an avid walker/hiker or just here to see the beautiful scenerey,
for mountain bikers many of them offer safe storage for your bikes.

Broughton-in-Furness
Description: Broughton-in-Furness is situated
inside the Lake District National Park and is near the mountains and the shores of southern
Cumbria. The town has its origins in the 11th century, however many buildings are from the 18th
and 19th centuries.
Attractions in Broughton include a 19th century obelisk which was
erected in honour of the Silver Jubilee of George III and is found in the Market Square; the
church of St. Mary Magdelene, dating back to 1547; the 14th century Broughton Tower; the Dock
Museum and the Furness Abbey, dating back to the 12th century. Attractions close to the town
include the Furness fells and the ancient Swinside Stone Circle. Broughton is a popular base
amongst walkers who wish to explore the Duddon Valley.
