Lake District - Towns and Villages Backbarrow
There's
plenty of towns and villages dotted all over the Lake District,
all are well within driving distance of each other, offering splendid
scenery and views of lakeland fells, mountains, lakes, rivers and
tarns. Many of which have excellent accommodation available wether
you are an avid walker/hiker or just here to see the beautiful scenerey,
for mountain bikers many of them offer safe storage for your bikes.

Backbarrow
Description: This beautiful small village is situated off
the A590, in a quiet corner by the River Leven. Famous flat iron workers, like Isaac Wilkinson,
lived in Backbarrow in the 18th century.
The development of Whitewater Village has
injected new life into the area, and it offers a number of facilities and activities for people
of all ages. Backbarrow also has a long history and tradition of the cotton and flax
mills.
Backbarrow is the perfect starting point for exploring the Lakeland, and is
situated on the edge of the Lake District.
