Appleby-in-Westmorland
Description: This beautiful village is situated
south east of Penrith on the north eastern rim of the Lake District. Appleby is split in two by
the River Eden and the Pennines create a breathtaking background.
The village is home to
the Appleby Horse Fair, dating back to 1865 and is held annually in June; other attractions the
village has on offer include Appleby Castle which dates back to the 11th century and the Appleby
Church.
