Ambleside

Description: Ambleside is one of the most popular destinations in the centre of the Lake District and is situated on the shores of Lake Windermere. This bustling market town has a lot to offer visitors, including a large number of eating and drinking establishments and a variety of shops selling everything climbers and walkers need to get going.

Ambleside has throughout history been one of the most important areas in the heart of the Lake District. The town’s origins date back to the Roman Fort Galava. There are many tourist attractions in Ambleside, including the illustrious 17th century Bridge House, the Ambleside Museum, and St. Marys Church which dates back to 1854.

The town also offers a multitude of activities for those who feel a little more energetic, from nature walks and trails through to bowls and tennis. All of this has made Ambleside one of the most popular towns in the entire county.
