District Lakes & Waters
The
Cumbrian Lake District in the northwest of England consists of a
series of lakes and mountains, and is one of the most beautiful
regions in the world.
The Lake District is made up of series of lakes, mountain tarns
and streams, and a mountain range that rises to over 900 metres
above sea level on four summits.
The
Lake District covers an area of 50 kilometres from the north to
the south and 40 kilometres from the west to the east.
The northern, southern and eastern lowland border regions are important
for the county’s agricultural industry, with sheep raising
and dairying the predominant industries of the area.
There
are 4 main lakes that have companies offering to take visitors around
the lake or provide rowing boats and self drive motorized boats
for hire so you can take in the splendour of the surrounding area
at your own pace, these are usually hired on a per hour basis, Ullswater,
Windermere, Coniston and Derwent Water.
