| Mirehouse Historic House & Gardens
Description:
This incredible historic house is located in Underskiddaw, Keswick, facing
Bassenthwaite Lake with Dodd Wood and Skiddaw behind it. The house has belonged to the Spedding family for more than 300 years and houses a number of
literary and artistic associations, such as manuscripts and portraits of three poet laureates: Southey, Tennyson and Wordsworth.
The house is
a private residence so it is only open to the public on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons, but should not be missed if you’re in Keswick. The gardens
have four wooded adventure playgrounds, a number of sheltered gardens to wander through and lakeside walks that take you through woods and parks. |
