Edward I Monument

Description:

This grand stone monument is located at the end of the River Eden, at the Solway Firth. It marks the death site of Edward I, who was known as the Hammer of the Scots.

He died here on the 7th of July 1307 on his way to Scotland. The Latin inscription found on the monument describes him as the greatest English king.
