The
Lake District is perfect for your planned camping
holiday in Cumbria, there are plenty of different locations
for you to choose from, small club sites where you are left alone
all the time, ideal for that get away from it all holiday, the smaller
sites have limited facilities, many just offer chemical disposal
points and fresh drinking water on the site, then there are the
larger sites that have it all, washing machines, place to wash your
dishes and an on site shop stocking everyday items and drinks, fresh
eggs, bacon and alcohol, obviousley the more you get from a campsite
the more it costs.
Many
farms in the Lake District provide a field during the summer season
at very reasonable rates, ideal for a hiking holiday where you can
walk all day then camp at night where, or near to where, your walk
ends, plan ahead and read the guide books or visit the local tourist
information centres.
Some working
farms have CL sites where 5/6 caravans or motorhomes can stay, enjoy
the activity of the farm from the comfort of your campervan, motorhome
or caravan, campers from all over the country get together and enjoy
the stunning surroundings of the Lake District fells. Bank holidays,
summer months, and festive season can get busy so you will need
to book about 6 months prior to your camping holiday to avoid dissapointment.
Many motorhome
owners enjoy finding a quiet spot on the side of the road, in a
lay by or just about anywhere were they don't block anybody else
to camp wild, known as wild camping in the Lake District, as long
as you don't litter or leave anything untidy when you leave you
should be ok, there are some rules on the cumbria county councils
web site regarding wild camping in Cumbria, you should read it before
you arrive..
