Hot
Air Ballooning in the Lake District
Hot
air balloon rides are of the best ways to explore the natural
beauty and landscape the Lake District has to offer. Quietly floating
above the remarkable hills and serene lakes, you will have a memorable
view of the Lake District and take in the cultural inspiration
of England’s heritage.
Skilled
guides provide in-flight commentary on all places of interest
and historical sites throughout the scenic hot air balloon flight.
Gently floating along the wind a short distance above the ground
provides the best way exploring the natural wonders of the Lake
District.
The
unique bird’s eye view down over the landscape provides
you with a different and exciting perspective of the Lake District,
with shiny reflections on the lakes and waters as well as the
map-like layout of fields and houses spread throughout Lakeland.
Floating silently up above the ground gives you the opportunity
to view the indigenous wildlife without disturbing them. Majestic
cloud formations add to the magical atmosphere and visual splendor
a hot air balloon flight creates.
Half
of the excitement of a hot air balloon flight is that
you’re never really sure of where you’ll be going
or where you’ll end up next. Hot air balloon flights will
end when the guide lands the balloon in one of the many sheltered
fields found throughout the Lake District. After touching down,
the perfect way to end off a beautiful sight seeing adventure
is to trade stories with other tourists, over a glass of the finest
champagne.
A
variety of tour operators, located all over the Lake District,
offer hot air ballooning
flights with experienced and knowledgeable pilots. All pilots
are experienced and have logged hundreds of flights throughout
the United Kingdom and Europe. Safety is one of the main concerns
of the operators and flights only take place if weather conditions
allow.
The
tour operators operate under the conditions set by the Civil Aviation
Authority and also members of the British
Association of Balloon Operators. The British Balloon and
Airship Club and the Cumbria Tourist Board make sure that all
the operators uphold a high quality of service.
Hot
air balloon flights are highly recommended by everyone that has
experienced one and they are prefect for celebrating a birthday,
an anniversary, a retirement or simply life in general. This completely
satisfying and unforgettable experience should not be missed out
when in the Lake District, and no trip follows the same route
you are ensured of a brand new experience every time you take
a hot air balloon flight.

Our Lake District hot air balloon ride
Our special day was a longe awaited relaxation period, we had to get away to enjoy nature and take a hot air balloon ride, Cumbria was on our thoughts as we had been before and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My husband booked us over the internet after finding details on this site (thanks Search Cumbria) and also booked our guest house room, we arrived on the friday evening and booked into our accommodation.
The following morning we had a hearty breakfast and headed out to our take off point, we were met by our pilot fo rthe day, he looked spiffing, all aboard, and up we go, now, theres lots of good views from hills or mountains BUT from up here it looks magnificent, spectacular, you could see for miles, our pilot made some remarks as to how close the villages look, they did, Windermere to Ambleside you would think was a 5 minute cycle ride. We will definatly be back again and again, excellent.
Ballooning in the Lakes
Exiting doesnt cut it, brilliant is close but a balloon flight over the Lake District was the best gift ever, my wife decided to book a flight with a local operator for our Easter weekend break in Cumbria.
We didnt go to high as the weather was a bit grey and visability would have been rather poor so we floated above the trees over lake windermere towards coniston where we could see the massive Old Man mountain, a sight of brilliant contrasts, reds greens and golds as the bracken was turning towards green after a long winter, if you want a balloon flight go for the lake district, perfect.
