Grizedale
Description: Grizedale, which is a hamlet in the middle of the Grizedale Forest within the Lake District National Park, can be reached from junction 36 on the M6 motorway following the A591 to Ambleside. At Waterhead turn left following the lake shore past the Wateredge Inn and bearing left at the sign for Hawkshead and Coniston and over the bridge. Follow this road for a quarter mile and bear left at Clappersgate following the sign for Hawkshead over a narrow bridge. When arriving at Hawkshead don't turn into the village, carry on the T-junction with the car park on your right. Turn right and follow signs for Forest Park Centre. Grizedale is located north of Satterthwaite and south of Hawkshead and forms part of the civil parish of Satterthwaite.
The facilities and activities at Grizedale Forest include: A visitor centre, seven car parks, cafe, wheelchair access, disabled facilities, five waymarked cycle trails, eight waymarked paths, one all ability trail, bike hire, education service, orienteering courses, playing areas for children, picnic areas, guided walks and activities, sixteen bunk hostel, over 90 wonderful world renowned sculptures plus big events such as car rallies, multi sport challenges and husky races are held here. There are also two easy going trails which are suitable for wheelchair access, they are: The Ridding Wood Trail and the Millwood Trail. There is also a unique high ropes course, called Go Ape, which provides a challenging aerial adventure. Here in Grizedale you will find activities to suit the whole family from the youngest to the oldest.
