Bed and Breakfast
in the Lake District
Bed & Breakfast
in Cumbria is perfect for couples who are just travelling through,
they provide a comfortable cosy bed for the night and a hearty breakfast
before you go out for the day, many B & B's will even provide
a packed lunch for your day out exploring the Lakes and taking in
the scenery.
Many people have asked
the same question "What is the difference between a Bed &
Breakfast and a Guest House?". The short answer is that breakfast
is included in the tariff and generally the owners live in the property
or nearby. A Bed and Breakfast could also consist of one room for
rent in a family home, Guest House, farm or even a room in a pub.
Most of these now offer
en-suite showers or bathrooms. Here in The Lake District most of
the Bed & Breakfast accommodations are of an extremely high
standard due tot he stringent rating systems which are set in place
and checked by the Tourist Board. The higher the number of stars
awarded the higher the quality of accommodation and services offered.
The hosts of B&B's,
as they are affectionately nicknamed, can usually provide a wealth
of information about the local attractions, recommend activities
or even help with booking these activities or dinner reservations.
Some even offer afternoon tea, scones and cakes.
Some Bed and Breakfast
accommodations are situated in elegant historic homes, which have
been lovingly renovated with period decorations while others might
carry a theme throughout the house. Here in Cumbria we have a large
selection for you to choose from.
Bed and breakfast
is probably one of the cheaper holiday accommodation choices, if
for example you are on holiday for 2 weeks in the Lake District
you could book 4 or 5 different bed & breakfasts dotted all
over the area, spend a few days here and a few days there so you
don't need to travel miles to get back to where your bags are each
evening, you can just travel to your next stop. Example, start in
Windermere where you could spend a few days visiting the local attarctions,
then move on to Coniston and visit the Blubird museum
