The town nestles just south of the Lake District, less than twenty minutes drive from Coniston Water and Windermere.
Virginia House was built around 1740, and originally owned by a Sea Captain. The hotel's name relates to the American State of Virginia, whom the original owner had connections with. From the late 18th century, the town of Ulverston had a sea port after a short canal was built to link the town with Morecambe Bay.
Ken and Brenda, the proprietors, have created a friendly atmosphere and always extend a warm welcome to their guests and are pleased to provide for any special requests.
