The Trout Hotel has been at the centre of this attractive market town for many years. Dating from circa 1670 the hotel was originally built as a private residence belonging to the local Egremont Estate, and has been extended over the years before becoming a hotel in 1934. The 1960's saw the hotel established as the sport of fishing became increasingly popular on the Rivers Derwent and Cocker, now famous for their excellent trout and salmon fishing.
The hotel has been privately owned by the same family for over 14 years, they have continually invested in the fabric of the building which now offers 49 superbly appointed bedrooms, three dining experiences, The Rosette Awarded Derwent restaurant, Terrace Bistro & Bar and attractive luxurious lounges and bar.
