Once a staging post for coaches that crossed the sands of Morecambe Bay to Lancaster in the 18th Century, the Bay Horse Hotel accommodation and Restaurant has since 1988, been the home of Robert Lyons, who, together with longstanding staff, welcomes you.
The house stands at the water’s edge of the Leven Estuary, commanding views of both the Lancashire and Cumbrian fells. Originally a brewery, inn and fishermen's cottages, today the hotel remains very much a family home, which offers comfort to all visitors.
The atmosphere is friendly and informal, our only aim is to make you feel welcome and be able to help you relax and unwind from the stress and strain of everyday life.
Over the years we have become renowned for our cooking and indeed the food we prepare and serve is, in our eyes, the true meaning of our existence.
All produce used is, where possible, local and adapts well to the weekly changing restaurant menu, where we try and arrange simple dishes alongside the more adventurous and imaginative ones. The Aberdeen Angus steaks have become a popular feature.
Nine en-suite bedrooms are available in the house, six of these have French windows out on to a terrace, giving the full panoramic view over the estuary (a bird watchers paradise). Each room is individually decorated and furnished and contains masses of magazines, books and board games, along with all the facilities one would expect to provide a 'home from home'.
