Ford House is a 5 star Grade II listed building in the popular village resort of Cartmel in South Lakeland, which sleeps up to 10 people. This large holiday house has recently been lovingly and carefully refurbished to the highest standards, and features original character beams, real log fires and a farmhouse flag floor with under-floor heating system. The beautiful double-fronted period property has five good sized bedrooms and three luxury bathrooms, two reception rooms, 3 flat screen TVs, and a brand new kitchen, equipped with the latest electric range style 4 oven cooker and 5 burner hob. The character room lounge has a feature fireplace with open fire, two sliding sash windows, wooden floorboards and beamed ceilings, and is equipped with a 42” LCD TV with Freeview channels, DVD and Video player and an extensive film library. The beautiful dining room has slate flags, under floor heating, open fire, two sliding sash windows, mood lighting and original character beamed ceilings. A large oak dining table seats 10 people and there is an iPod dock / CD music centre for entertainment. Outside at the rear there is a large walled garden which is ideal for both children and pets to play safely. There is a gas BBQ and outdoor seating and table for 10 people. Within the medieval village of Cartmel there is a choice selection of gift shops, book shops and antique shops, pubs, restaurants, including the Michelin Star Restaurant L’Enclume. The cobbled village square features a market cross and water pump and the Cartmel Priory Gatehouse, now a Heritage Centre which depicts the history of the monastery. Cartmel hosts regular steeple chase meetings, drawing visitors from all over the country and is also famous for its delicious local sticky toffee pudding, which can be purchased in the village shop. The 12th Century Priory is worth a visit, with its beautiful stained glass windows, modern sculptures, and ancient choir stalls.
