Fair Rigg, a simple, traditional bed and breakfast guest house in Bowness-on-Windermere, where resident owners Christine and Ian provide stylish accommodation of a standard at least equal to, even exceeding, that of many a highly rated hotel, at a fraction of the price.
Fair Rigg was designed and built for the builder's own occupation, in the heyday of Victorian architecture at the end of the 19th century, a time when the full glory of the Lake District was being revealed.
The house enjoys a country setting, and yet remains within easy walking distance of Bowness with its abundance of bars, restaurants, shops and the shore of Lake Windermere. Designed to take full advantage of its hillside location, the house has fine views, with most rooms looking out over fields and trees to the lake and fells beyond.
At the rear of the property there is private parking for our guests - 1 space per room. At the front there is a small patio/garden where you can sit and enjoy a drink or simply take in the superb view and watch the world go by.
